October 24th: The Largest Gourd Showdown & Oktoberfest
The Sooke Fall Fair will be hosting two events on October 24:
The Largest Gourd Showdown
Where: Sooke Region Museum
When: October 24th, 2 to 7 PM
Cost: Free
A family-friendly event, we’re hosting the Largest Gourd Showdown, in collaboration with the Sooke Region Museum, as a kick-off to Sooke Spook!
Drop off your Gourds, squashes, and pumpkins, at the Museum between 2 and 3 pm, with weigh-offs happening at approximately 3:30! Rosettes and Ribbons will be presented just before 5pm, as we work to spookify the museum grounds for a haunting good time!
Oktoberfest
Where: Sooke Community Hall
When: October 24th, 6 to 10 PM
Cost: $38 per person (includes a meal, beverage and one entry into our fantastic raffle)
For Oktoberfest, we have high energy entertainment including,
- The MJ Wilson Combo
- The Barss/Branch Bunch, a 6-piece band featuring mandolin, bass, guitar, fiddle, banjo and, of course, accordian
- Sooke’s very own, West Coast Cabaret, featuring a sneak peak into their cheeky show, Twisted Circus, happening Halloweekend, October 30th & 31st
We will be selling beer, cider, pretzels and a selection of non-alcoholic beverages. Bring your own beer stine and get a discount on your beverage! Included in each meal: bratwurst, saurkraut, braised red cabbage, potatoes, pretzels and apple strudel.
There will also be prizes for best costume (German or otherwise).
Tickets for Oktoberfest are $38 and can be purchased at a Sea Of Bloom, Bull & Son’s Deli, and The Artisan’s Garden. Cash or etransfer (sookefallfairemail@gmail.com) only please!
